Taking On A Leadership Role To Inspire Through Light

We are light—and I don’t mean that in a vague, abstract, woo-woo kind of way, but in a very real, scientifically measurable one.
Our bodies emit tiny particles of light called biophotons as a natural result of being alive. What’s especially meaningful to me is that research has shown this light can dramatically increase during periods of focused meditation and prayer—particularly in the region of the heart. Studies observing long-term meditators, including Buddhist monks, found that what is normally a faint emission of around 20 photons can amplify to well over 100,000 photons in deep, coherent states.
I love this—not because it proves anything spiritual—but because it quietly mirrors something ancient traditions have always taught. When we slow down, turn inward, and come into alignment, something within us quite literally begins to shine.
That feeling… that is what Inner Light is about.
What Is Inner Light Services at Seaside?

Inner Light Services are held at the Seaside Center for Spiritual Living, a New Thought ministry rooted in the Religious Science teachings of Ernest Holmes. All ministers and ministerial interns have studied and practice these principles.
I’ll be honest—I don’t personally identify as strictly Religious Science or New Thought. But through attending services at both Seaside and Agape Spiritual Center in Los Angeles (which share these foundational teachings), I’ve experienced firsthand how accessible, non-judgmental, and genuinely loving this philosophy is.
The intention here is not to replace anyone’s existing faith or belief system. It’s to offer tools—practical, spiritual, human tools—that can be integrated into whatever path you already walk.
At its heart, this is an inclusive spiritual community. All sexualities. All identities. All backgrounds. All belief systems. What we share is love, service, prayer, meditation, and a blending of ancient wisdom with modern understanding.
What You Can Expect
Here’s the kind of energy and messaging you’ll encounter at Inner Light:
An emphasis on the inner life Going within to find clarity, guidance, and connection—without relying on external authority or dogma.
A non-judgmental, non-dogmatic approach Questions are welcome. Doubt is welcome. Your lived experience matters.
You as a co-creator of your life Drawing from both spiritual tradition and modern science, we explore how intention, awareness, and belief shape experience.
Prayer and meditation as grounding tools Not as something to beg for change, but as practices that align the mind, heart, and nervous system.
Science and spirituality in conversation Quantum theory, consciousness studies, and neuroscience are often woven in as bridges—not barriers.
Love as the common denominator Beyond labels or doctrine, love is treated as the organizing principle.
Service as a natural expression of alignment When we’re connected to our inner light, compassion flows—without burnout or obligation.
A community built on shared humanity Different beliefs, shared curiosity, mutual kindness.
My Introduction To The Seaside Center For Spiritual Living
Honestly? People started talking about me in rooms I wasn’t in—and thankfully, it was all good things.
It began in 2022, when I received my certification as an Expert Sound Healer. In 2023, my wife and I started attending a yoga class at LA Fitness, where I ran into Kay—the mother of a friend from my rockabilly and pinup days over a decade ago. I knew Kay attended Seaside and was a minister (she officiated her daughter’s wedding there), but I hadn’t thought much beyond that.
One day at yoga, she said, “You should come to Seaside tonight. There’s a sound bath, and we could use extra sound healers. Maybe you could sing and help out a little?”
I decided to show up… and I was hooked.
I became a Bishwa Seva volunteer sound healer for their summer series and have been volunteering ever since. When my wife and I finally attended a Sunday service, we realized how familiar the teachings felt—very much like Agape, a place we’ve loved for years.
We were immediately welcomed. I co-led the Solstice Celebrations with Kalli Holmes Sorenson, the first lady of Seaside My wife sold art at their market (and sold a lot of it). I performed at once at Sunday services (but made it clear that was far too early a call time for me). We met and made new friends. We attended the practitioner graduation to support our friend Caron Cole, then I supported her with sound meditation at one of her first events doing an animal blessing on the day of St. Francis of Assisi (which I grew up attending annually with all my pets as a former Catholic). People started getting to know us gradually.
A Welcomed Invitation to Lead With Music & Meditation
One of the practitioners, Dr. Moira Fitzpatrick, hired me to sing at her clinic’s anniversary events in 2024 and 2025. It was during one of those performances that Rev. Deb and Rev. Christian saw me perform.
Later—at a retreat I wasn’t even at—my name came up as they discussed bringing back a Wednesday Night Service. They were looking for someone to hold music and meditation. When my name was mentioned, others immediately agreed I’d be a great fit.
That’s what I mean by people talking about me in rooms I wasn’t in.
I’m still floored. Truly. I’m not a Seaside member. I haven’t formally studied Ernest Holmes. I’m honest, present, a bit of an outsider—but deeply aligned. There’s nothing in these teachings that clashes with my lived beliefs. I’m not part of any religion, but my spirituality has been shaped by life, loss, love, science, and observation.
A Nod to My Music Origins
The irony? I started singing in the Catholic Church—choirs, solos, all of it. After coming out and graduating high school, I stepped away from organized religion completely. I became skeptical of dogma, yet remained endlessly curious about consciousness, quantum science, and ancient wisdom.
Now here I am—almost 45—singing in a spiritual setting again. But this time as Director of Meditation & Music, helping build a new mid-week spiritual community from the ground up.
I wasn’t asked to step into something pre-existing. I was invited to help birth something new. To plan. To name. To design. To implement. And most unexpectedly—I feel valued, seen, and heard as an equal.
An Open Invitation To All

Inner Light is heart centered. It’s a place to pause mid-week. To breathe. To reset. To remember yourself.
My role is to choose music that supports each minister’s message, resonates with the room, and brings people gently into the present moment through sound meditation. I get to work with 4 incredibly insightful, loving, divinely connected and sourced women, including 2 seasoned ministers, Rev. Debbie McDonnell and Rev. Lori McMacken and two gifted ministerial interns, Terah Short & Maggie Rintala.
I am deeply honored. This feels completely aligned with who I am now and the path I have not only chosen to be on, but feel called towards as I follow my spirit and divine guidance.
So, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you believe, if love is central to
your life, you will find a home here. Join us Wednesday nights at 6:30pm.
We can’t wait to welcome you. 💛
