Performance Is Personal: Creating Lifetime Connections With My Clients

Something magical happens when your voice becomes part of someone’s most cherished memories.
As a full-time event entertainer, one of the greatest joys in my career isn’t just performing at beautiful gatherings—it’s the lasting connection I get to build with people over time. Sometimes more than a decade goes by between performances, and yet… they remember me. Or more specifically, they remember my voice—and what it made them feel.
And just like that, they reach out again.

This year alone, I was booked for a 70th birthday in NY by someone from CA who last hired me in 2017. A charming French couple I hadn’t seen in almost 10 years, had me perform for their joint 50th birthday. A client from Palm Springs who booked me in 2024 is already bringing me back for her 60th birthday celebration this winter. These aren’t just bookings—they’re relationships built on trust, nostalgia, and a knowing that whatever the vibe, I’ll bring something unforgettable.
BECOMING PART OF A TRADITION
There’s something truly meaningful about being invited to return year after year for special occasions. I’ve become a familiar face & voice at events like:
Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Galas
Taste of Oceanside
Encinitas Wine & Food Festival
National MS Society Cocktails for a Cure
Holiday tree lightings and shop local events
Every grand opening for North County LGBTQIA+ Resource Center
Knowing that people can’t imagine their annual gatherings without me? That’s the kind of impact no algorithm or ad can replicate. It’s earned—over years of showing up, tuning in, and curating the perfect atmosphere for each unique setting. It kind of tickles me when sometimes a group that didn't book me on time or decided to go a different way to change things up one year, comes back and says how much their group missed me this time, so they need to make sure to book well in advance. This quiets the insecure voice in my head that will occasionally tell me, "they could get anybody else, it doesn't really matter" or "you won't be missed."
THE SOUNDTRACK OF YOUR LIFE
What touches me at my core are the clients who invite me into the intimate and emotional moments of their lives.

I’ve been honored to sing at a couple’s wedding… only to be called back just months later to perform at a celebration of life for a beloved family member—at the very same family ranch. To bring music to both the most joyful and the most tender moments of a family’s journey is something I will never take lightly. It makes me feel incredibly close to them, like I’ve become an important part of the family.
Sometimes, people are surprised when they realize I can offer even more—that I’m able to serve as their minister, singer, and sound healer for weddings or memorials. When they imagine weaving all of those elements together into one seamless, sacred experience—I watch their eyes sparkle with possibility. “Wait… we can actually do that?” Yes, you absolutely can and I'm happy to suggest how that could be done seamlessly.
And then there are the long, layered stories—the ones that unfold over years.
I’ve watched casual diners who stumbled across my music at a restaurant turn into lifelong clients. They came back week after week… until one day, I got a call and they asked me to sing while they popped the question. Later, I was flown out to perform at their destination wedding in Mexico. Years passed, and they began bringing their children to hear me sing. And just recently, I saw them again—this time at a sound bath, letting the frequencies soothe their nerves after a long week of parenting and work.
This is what it means to become the soundtrack of someone’s life.
I’m equally delighted when a client that booked me for a special event drops in at one of my public shows on a whim—just because they missed my voice, or they wanted to share my music with someone they love. Seeing those familiar faces in the crowd, knowing we’ve shared memories together—that fills me with joy. I light up every time.
Sometimes I can even feel that kind of relationship forming from the very first event. Just this week, I performed for a tight-knit group celebrating a dear friend’s recovery from heart surgery. The energy was beautiful, the love was palpable—and before I had even finished my final song, they were already asking how soon they could plan another gathering to bring me back.
These lasting client relationships go far beyond a performance. They feel personal… like being a distant relative who’s never out of reach.
WHEN YOUR STORY BECOMES THEIRS TO TELL
One of the most beautiful surprises of this journey is how much people love to share their stories—about me.
They’ll stop by a show just to say, “We saw you years ago at that vineyard,” or “You sang our first dance song,” or “I still think about the song you sang at my dad’s memorial.” Others eagerly introduce me to friends or strangers, telling them about the night I made their event magical, or the song that hit them right in the soul.
I’ve overheard people chatting at venues—sharing stories about my travels, my ever-changing looks, even details about my life with René and our 20+ years together. Some follow me on socials even if they don’t see me often, and I’m amazed how much they’ve remembered, absorbed, and passed on. It’s better than any PR I could do myself.
And you know what? I love it.
My life is an open book on purpose. I share it not to overshare—but to inspire. I want people to feel what’s possible when you follow your passions, embrace your truth, own your voice, and stop pretending everything’s always perfect. I share the wins and the wounds—because authenticity is the throughline of everything I do.
That honesty is what turns audience members into storytellers. It’s what turns gigs into community. And it’s what can turn even a single song into something unforgettable.
A DYNAMIC EVENT CHAMELEON
One thing that makes me stand out: I adapt like a chameleon. Whether I’m belting jazz classics in a speakeasy-style lounge, serenading a room full of professionals after a long day at a corporate conference, entertaining nostalgic senior citizens, or surrounded by dancing women on girls’ night out or to a sea of festive families awaiting the annual lighting of their Christmas tree… I always do my best to use my natural musical intuition to deliver the right vibe.
I can even do mid-show costume changes, just for funsies. You want an Alien Princess at your Halloween party or a jazz flapper at your speakeasy or a pin-up doll at your classic car show, style is all part of my razzle dazzle!
Over time, I get to know each client’s style: Are they dancers or loungers? Do they want cozy and elegant or high-energy and wild? Do they like to start slow then after wine and cocktails are applied get kind of wild? What era of music speaks to them most?
I tune into that energy and shape the experience around it. Whether it’s Ella, Etta, Patsy, Stevie, or Adele I curate every set to feel just right.
MERGING MUSIC & MAGIC
More recently, people have started asking: “Can you do both live performance and a sound bath?”
The answer is YES.
This fusion lights me up.
It's hopefully the future trajectory I'm on - where sound meets song in the most impactful ways possible.
As someone who brings both soulful live music and deeply healing sound journeys, I love weaving these offerings into spiritual retreats, corporate conferences, wellness events, and personal celebrations. Want to open your gathering with a cosmic sound immersion and close with dancing under the stars? I’m totally here for it.
Being multi-faceted isn’t just a skill—it’s more like my entire personality. And no two events ever look or sound the same (and can even include a costume change!)
BUILDING A LEGACY THROUGH CONNECTION
What I’ve learned is this:
When you make someone feel seen, moved, or transported—they remember. And when their next big life moment rolls around, they don’t go searching for “local live music.”
They think of me.
Because when your voice becomes part of someone’s story…You never truly leave it.
Writing this blog has helped me open yet another layer of sharing—my thoughts, my experiences, the quiet moments that shape me behind the scenes.
It’s helped me show up with even more clarity, more honesty, and more truth. I’ve acknowledged the struggles, the growth, the vulnerabilities, and the miracles that make up this path I’m walking. This life isn’t always easy—it’s filled with obstacles, moments of doubt, reinvention, and resilience.
But through it all… I am overwhelmingly grateful, in awe and wide open to whatever magic is still unfolding.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Let’s keep creating the soundtrack—together.
Contact me as soon as you come up with the next opportunity for me to entertain you because neither of us want to miss out on making our next memories together.
